A carpenters death in Las Vegas

A carpenters death in Las Vegas
A 49 year old carpenter fell about 15 feet and died after a fatal head injury. This men's death was the first one at the Echelon site, but it was the 12th death related to the Strip construction in the past 18 month. It's shocking news.
It seems that the carpenter was taking down scaffolding in the basement level of the Echelon tower when he fell. Obviously the work at the tower is suspended for now. The exact cases of the accident aren't clear, so the Nevada Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Boy Gaming, Marnell and Tishman are working to figure it out. The victim was working for Marnell Corrao, who is the concrete prime contractor.

Tishman Construction instead is the construction manager for Echelon. The OSHA already started the investigations, but it doesn't want to supply any information. The situation of the death at work is frightening. At the MGM Mirage's CityCenter site, six workers died in the past year and a half and at the Cosmopolitan site two workers have been killed. The CityCenter and the Cosmopolitan project have been controlled by the Southern Nevada Building and Construction Trade Council, because it seems that the general contractor of the two sites,

Perini Building Co, didn't address the council's safety concern adequately. The OSHA and the Nevada Occupational and Safety Administration conducted a safety review of the two sites. A construction worker claimed that they feel pressure because of the construction deadlines at the Strip project site. That's why there are more possibilities that accidents happen. The Echelon project is going to be a big project and it'll open in 2010.
